Why not? It's your hair...wear it how you want to. If you don't like it, it will always grow out. I just cut my hair that short about 6 months ago but I had them put some layers in it and everyone loved it but my fiance likes it long and we're getting married soon so I'm just letting it grow out so I can actually do something to it on my wedding day. I would try cutting it shoulder length and see how you like it and then maybe go shorter from there.

if it looks good, then why not? who cares what the current style is? it's just going to go away, then you'll be stuck, trying to find out what the next style is.

I think that as long as you like it and feel comfortable with it, you should go for it. Or, if you'll feel better with a style that's more current, you can just get a short haircut with some fringe to look more modern.
