It's a general "fashion" rule I think, or "age appropriateness". Most older women just don't look good with long hair for one reason or another. Many times it's simply because as they age, their hair changes... especially after they begin to get grays which are wirey and can stick out every which direction or make the head of hair as a whole look rough... the longer it is, the more noticeable it is, so older women tend to cut it off and have it styled to get around that. I've seen very few older women pull off long hair well, and for the most part the only ones that I have seen were very attractive by any standard, old or young. Perhaps those are the ones that are still concerned enough about their looks that they find a way to make their long hair work and look nice.

Young women cut their hair short too. I did way back in 99 (as a teen) but was on and off with it for awhile until 2002 when I had it consistently short since.

I still attract tons of guys regardless-maybe it has to do that I am attractive and has less to do with how long my hair length is.

So with that being said, a older woman can look good long or short and get plenty of attention. Take Jamie Lee Curtis for instance-- she made be up there in age but has plenty of male admirers.
